You are most certainly aware of the drug and alcohol epidemic that has swept across our county since the onset of Hurricane Katrina. So many people, of all ages, in Hancock County are struggling under the burden of increasing crime, domestic violence, sexual abuse, indebtedness, and the effects of post traumatic stress disorder. (PTSD) which affects both survivors of Hurricane Katrina and our service men and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
We believe the solution to these problems can be found in the true higher power, Jesus Christ. For that reason, in March of 2010 we began offering a recovery ministry called Celebrate Recovery to the people of Hancock County and surrounding areas. This Christ-centered, non denominational and inter-racial ministry and is open to everyone, Christian and non-Christian alike, who are struggling with a hurt, habit or hang-up in their life.
The vision of Celebrate Recovery is to create a safe place thru the Celebrate Recovery guidelines where not only alcoholics and those with drug addictions could go to for support. But a place for codependents, people with eating disorders, those struggling with sexual addictions, anger, those dealing with past or current physical or sexual abuse issues, those in need of financial recovery and many more groups. In short, anyone dealing with any kind of hurt, habit or hang-up .
