Celebrate Recovery
Freedom from your hurts and hang-ups and habits.
Why a Recovery Program
You are most certainly aware of the drug and alcohol epidemic that has swept across our county since the onset of Hurricane Katrina. So many people, of all ages, in Hancock County are struggling under the burden of increasing crime, domestic violence, sexual abuse, indebtedness, and the effects of post dramatic stress disorder. (PTSD) which affects both survivors of Hurricane Katrina and our service men and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
We believe the solution to these problems can be found in the “true” higher power, Jesus Christ. For that reason, beginning March 2010 Old Spanish Trail Baptist Church, jointly with Pathfinder Mission will offer a recovery ministry called Celebrate Recovery® to the people of Hancock County. This Christ-centered, non denominational and inter-racial ministry is open to everyone, Christian and non-Christian alike, who is struggling with a hurt, habit or hang-up in their life.
Background
Celebrate Recovery® began at Saddleback Church in Southern California 18 years ago.
Since then, over 10,000 people at Saddleback have completed the program and have found victory from their hurts, hang-ups and habits through Christ’s power. Saddleback has helped to start the program in over 10,000 church’s and over 500,000 courageous individuals have completed the program.
The vision of Celebrate Recovery is to create a safe place where not only alcoholics and those with drug addictions could go to for support. But a place for codependents, people with eating disorders, those struggling with sexual addictions, anger, those dealing with past or current physical or sexual abuse issues, those in need of financial recovery and many more groups. In short, anyone dealing with any kind of hurt, hang-up or habit.
About the Program
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ centered, biblical based program. There are two major components. the large group meeting and the step study groups.
The first component, the Large Group meeting, consists of a time for worship and teaching on a recovery principal and an open share time where participants are in smaller recovery and gender specific groups. In these groups, which follow the CR 5 Small Group Guidelines, they have the opportunity to share their struggles and victories, be acknowledged for their sobriety, find sponsors and accountability partners. The Large group meeting is proceeded by supper and followed by a time for coffee and desert. Both offer an opportunity for the participants to meet others.
